3. How much can I get?
The amount you can get depends on your individual circumstances
The only way to find out exactly how much you'll get is to apply but you could get up to £4,750 if you're studying in Northern Ireland.
If the fees charged by your university or college are less than the maximum available, you'll only be able to borrow up to the amount they charge.
Example
If your university is charging you £4,750, you can borrow up to £4,750.
If your university is charging £3,300, you can only borrow up to £3,300.

Tuition Fees are lower in Northern Ireland than the rest of the UK
The maximum amount available in each country for each academic year reflects the most that a university or college can charge in tuition fees.
Universities and colleges in Northern Ireland charge lower tuition fees than other areas, so the amount of loan required is also less.
Studying in the Republic of Ireland
Students who normally live in Northern Ireland and choose to study at a relevant institution of higher education in the Republic of Ireland (public university or college) are not charged a tuition fee, however they are required to pay a student contribution charge.

Accelerated degree courses in England
From academic year 2019 to 2020, Northern Ireland students studying an accelerated degree course at university or college in England can apply for a Tuition fee Loan of up to £11,100. How much you can get will depend on your course information.
If your course costs more than the student finance you can get, you need to pay the difference
If the tuition fee charged by your university or college is more than the maximum student finance available to you - you'll need to pay the remaining amount to them directly.
