3. What happens after you apply

Check we have everything we need to fully assess your application

We will not be able to confirm your eligibility for student finance or pay you until we have everything we need from you.

Go to your student finance account

The best way to check the progress of your application or to find out if you have any outstanding actions is to sign into your student finance account (opens in a new tab)

If you're going to call us about the status of your application it's always a good idea to check your account first.

Send any information or evidence we've asked for

Do this as soon as possible. If you've been asked to download a form to send us - fully complete it, include any evidence, and do not forget to sign and date it.

Who assesses your application

This depends on the types of finance you've applied for:

  • If you're a full-time undergraduate student, it will normally be your local Student Finance NI office.
  • If you're a part-time undergraduate or postgraduate student, it will be our teams at the central Student Finance NI office.
  • If you are a tuition fee only funding student, it will be the Student Finance Services team.

You may be contacted by a member of the Student Finance team, during assessment of your application.

Student finance approved

If your application for student finance is approved you'll get a Notification of Entitlement letter. If your application is unsuccessful we'll write to tell you why.

Keep your account up to date

If anything changes, let us know because it could affect your student finance.
