Getting your first student finance payment

Before you can get your first student finance payment, you’ll need to register at your uni or college. This means you may need to cover some costs like travel, books and your first month’s rent yourself.

Your payment dates are set by your course term dates. You can check your payment schedule by logging in to your online account

Your Maintenance Loan gets paid directly to your bank account. Your Tuition Fee Loan will be paid directly to your uni or college.

Was your student finance application late?

Don’t panic! You’ll still get paid but your first payment will most likely be late. You can speed up the process by checking your online account in case we’ve asked for evidence from you.

You need to make sure we have your correct bank details, check this by logging in to your online account

It can take up to 3 working days for your payment to show in your bank account.

Is your payment showing as blocked?

We could be missing your bank details or we might be confirming your National Insurance number. It can take up to 10 working days for us to confirm your National Insurance number. You’ll be paid automatically once this is done.
